The Sept.16 meeting was held at 7:00pm in the Azalea room at the extension office of the University of Florida.
Beth Fox opened the meeting with an update on the selection of the OBBA candidate for the Honey Bee Queen contest. The Honey Bee Queen will be crowned at the convention in Fort Myers on Oct.28,29 and 30th.
Dr. Jamie Ellis [jdellis@ufl.edu] from Research and Extension Services at the University of Florida talked about and answered questions on:
1. reasons for the decline of the honey bee
2. the effects of 9 different pesticides on larval honeybees
Dr. Ellis answered questions using pesticides to control beehive diseases.
On October 21st at 7pm in the Azalea room, David Mendes will be the guest speaker via cyberspace.
The raffle was held and the meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.
