I hope to see many of you tomorrow in Monticello, FL at the Florida State Beekeepers Association year end meeting. It should be a fun and interesting event.

Our next meeting is Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of the Orange County Extension Office located at 6021 S. Conway Road, Orlando.

We will have a beekeeper forum discussing winterizing your bees, both here and in other states. This will be fun and interesting.

Also, one of our members has constructed a hive made of Lucite and he will bring it and tell you how to make one yourself. Sounds like a better alternative to the typical observation hive, as it is an 8 frame hive body!

Our September meeting is, amazingly, right around the corner! We will be meeting in the Magnolia Room, Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Orange County Extension Offices located at 6021 S. Conway Road., Orlando.

Hi folks,
National Honey Bee Awareness (Appreciation) Day was a success!

Many of our beekeepers nearly sold out of honey and we had about 120 people attend the event.We had balloons (black and yellow of course) on the signposts to attract passers-by, our beautiful new big banner and signs directing people to the various classrooms.

The Orange Blossom Beekeepers Association will be holding an event in recognition of National Honey Bee Appreciation Day. Please join us at the Orange County Extension Center for a fun and informational day.
